The world is a mess. Not just far away. It's a mess really nearby. And it's ticking me off. Of course, I get peeved easily these days. The annoyances can be big or small; my lane in the grocery store always going the slowest, gas prices, pictures of the distended belly of a starving child or people overusing the word "like" as a conversational filler. Or, like, items that cost $2.01 resulting in, like, a pocket load of change. I get fried every time I listen to a couple of congressmen (or women) speak, every time I see slow cars in the passing lane or every time I consider the missing younger generation in churches today....

Of bees and flies

Suppose you have two jars, and you fill one with houseflies and the other with bees, and cover them with vented lids. After a couple of hours you remove the lids and go home for the night, leaving both the bees and the flies a clear and equal opportunity for escape. What will you find when you return in the morning? Both jars empty? Not quite. In fact, the jar containing the flies will be empty. And if you happened to leave a half-eaten sandwich sitting on the table you'll know just where to find them.
